A Poem

The snow is lovely and all,
but I don't think I can take
another evening
of Palladium stir-fry...

A City in Winter

Thursday, December 18, 2008

So sorry about the dearth of new postage. Its finals week here at The Burlap Smack, and between studying and anticipating the blizzards that will ground our flights from JFK and trap us in the city for the holidays (the horrifying prospect of a Downstein Christmas Eve dinner...), we've kind of dropped the ball. Our bad! Expect new posts soon.

Love (and sincere apologies),

Dapper Dan

Yet another dapper individual spotted in 25 West 4th.
I would wear the scarf. And the bag. And maybe the shoes, too.

More seasonal accessories. I really wish more men would carry patterned umbrellas.

Love Bertha

These past few days have been rain boots all day every where I go. I have to say though, I am not a fan of the short red ones in the middle, or short any kind of rain boot; it reminds me too much like the ladybug ones I wore when I was six. Which were cute, on a six year old. That said, I do really like the other red ones in the center left, because they're tall. And the blue ones on the end. More for the color than the style though. Overall, I'm honestly ambivalent where rain boots are concerned; it's a toss-up between practicality and ugly, and in this weather it's hard to say. Thoughts?

The slow days here at The Burlap Smack involve a variety of noble pursuits, like sitting on the window sill and looking into other people's apartments (which are much nicer than here) consuming mass amounts of coffee (and leaving almost none for the other roommates), napping, and watering the cactus, which is not, unfortunately, a euphemism for anything.

But on the euphemism note, by far the noblest pursuit that has been..well, pursued this afternoon was inspired by Snuff and involves turning classic(ish) works of literature and film into elegantly trashy porn titles, to maybe be posted here at a later date, when the list is complete.

Witness the sheer genius of a college education.

These shoes might actually look better as women's fashion then men's...

And they're everywhere.

White and gray

Her great accessories almost distract you from our shoddy attempt at protecting her anonymity. Keeping the sunglasses in focus was worth it though.

We are a fans of dapper...

Ladies and gentlemen, we'd like to extend a warm welcome to our humble abode here at The Burlap Smack, bringing you the best, and not-as-best-but-still-quite-good fashion here at NYU, as well as some odds and ends that wander in here and there. We invite you to consider, critique and contemplate. And, of course, tell your friends.

Lots of love,
