Yes, plaid's old news, we know.

Yesterday really was lovely, wasn't it?

Finally!

Our sincerest apologies for the extremely long absence, it was midterms week and then Spring Break and we completely lost track of time. Now, with that said, take a gander:

Spotted in Central Park, there's not really much we can say about those pants, they speak for themselves. You can't quite tell from the picture, but they are in fact terrycloth.

Book Bag

Ah, the leather book bag. So collegiate. These weathered leather vestiges from the 1950s have resurfaced full force, and we're a huge fan, particularly as men's accessories. We've all had enough of the jansport backpack, thank you.

Lunch

Today at Kimmel, third floor. The look on the left is a sort of an uptown princess-y vibe. On the right, more glamor. Check out those gold heels! And that belt! and that bag! gorgeous.

Here's something to brighten up your day. What stands out to us here is evident in the title of this post, but still worth pointing out. The photo on the right is much sharper, so you'll have an easier time noticing all the different textures she brought to this outfit: the stockings, the cap and scarf, the leather jacket, etc. The hat on the left really stands out, too, as does the colorful scarf (that's harder to see--sorry--) beneath it...

Manly Things

Spotted at the Met: two sleek, slim silhouettes on the left (we've all read about how they're putting the booty back into men's trousers...) and some sunshine on the right, to distract us from the gloomy gray skies outside.

Classic.

Not so classic.
We loved these pointy sneakers--suede dress shoes made sporty, totally adorable.

p.s. You'd think that NYU might have found a spark of compassion in its cold, stone, corporate heart and not forced its students to be THE ONLY STUDENTS IN THE CITY to trudge through the snow to school today...but no...

more Vintage

Ta-Da! Here's some serious vintage for you: this dress was $16 at Buffalo Exchange, the boots are a relic from the 80s (god bless mothers who hang on to the good stuff) and, well, the tights are from Uniqlo but...

Detail shot. This ring!!! A gorgeous camio, $60 at O Mistress Mine...take THAT, Urban Outfitters, this is the real thing.

We're a big fan of the knapsack trend...the weathered leather ones are especially nice. This royal blue coat is also lovely. Don't you think? Of course you do.

Here's a cute little vintage-y outfit. It's a little monotone, but subway lights will do that, plus it just adds to that faded antique effect we find so charming.

Here's the second batch of our trip to the Met yesterday. As you can see, some people really made an effort to to distract from the brightest, most well known pieces in the museum (cough*gold jacket, blue poncho*cough)

These two are both very simple, but elegant. The silhouette on the right is especially charming, and she smartly accents the black and white with a bright red bag
and (though you can't really see it) coat.

At the Met

A rainy Sunday afternoon is best spent indoors...and so rather than surrendering to homework, we spent the day uptown looking at art...and people.

Here's a few favorites (more tomorrow). Leather is probably the hero of this story: jacket and boots and bag (sooooo nice) on the left, boots in the middle, pants on the right. Appologies for the shoddy photos, but if you look closely at the photo on the right, you'll see a fabulous black fur vest. Click to enlarge.

The big story today seemed to be hats and fur. Let's see...top left: we loooove how the folds in her chic little cap mirror those in her coat. Top right: the little bowler hat is totally boyish and great, emphasized by the fact that she's walking next to man.

The fur coat on the left is really dramatic, and she really amps it up by wearing her hair down with it, it's totally wild. The look on the right is very vintage; it's super clean and adorable. We love it.

That Bag

Hotttttttt. I wanted this photo before I even noticed the kisses etched into all that shiny, gorgeous leather. Jealousy abounds.

We thought this guy really said it all about NYU.

The coat on the left is a BCBG coat that we got for $22 (!!) at Buffalo Exchange on our vintage rampage this past weekend. The dress on the right is of unknown origin; we just like it for the nautical vibes, and thought it goes well with the BCBG outfit (hemline, colored tights...)

Have you been to Coney Island lately? Neither has anyone else. In keeping with our last post, however, we thought we'd give you another dosage of weird. The theme park closed down several months ago, and as though it wasn't freaky enough to begin with, the emptiness and gray winter skies added a whole new layer of eerie. The enormous housing projects in the background really stand out, too.
