Leg Warmers

And here's how it's done:

We chose a particularly troublesome sweater to destroy (it shed all over the place).

We hemmed the bottoms to prevent unraveling.

TA-DA!

Here's a clean, simple outfit (all solid blocks of color).
We added some gold and pearls to spice things up a bit.
The leg-warmers are homemade. We'll get to that in our next post.

Kenka!

One of our favorite places: Kenka on St. Marks.

Reasons to love it: delicious food for super delicious prices! We recommend: rice balls, udon, mochi, $ 8 pitchers of beer, and everything else we've tried so far. Except for the green tea float--not exactly bad, but definitely odd. Wouldn't order it again. (We don't think...)

More reasons to love: the decor. Cozy and colorful and loud. Wonderful.

In a perfect world with an unlimited budget we would furnish our perfect and unlimited room for the BurlapSmack headquaters with all of the magical things above. In a perfect world we would have sitting rooms with giant leather couches and gilded mirrors rather than standard issue dorm furniture and green carpeting.

Furry earmuffs (not the best photo, apologies)
are especially relevant in this obscenely cold weather

We initially disregarded this photo because the outfit is, by NYC (and especially NYU) standards, pretty standard. High boots, black leggings, short military-ish jacket. Blah blah. Except upon further contemplation, we realized that while this outfit doesn't stand out at all here on campus, it would definitely stand out back home. So this one's for everyone out there who looks just fine, and for you, NYU, for raising the bar.
